How To: A Systems of Equations Project
Cover of student created “How To” booklet for Systems of Equations
In both Math and History classes, a fundamental aspect of my teaching philosophy is the idea of parallel assessments. In this, I often have traditional tests and quizzes that are paralleled by non-traditional project assessments which allow students multiple avenues to demonstrate their learning.
One my favorite examples of this in a mathematics classroom are “How To” booklets that let the student become the expert. In my Algebra and Accelerated Algebra classes, these showed up as the unit assessment for Systems of Equations. Included in this post is an example of a created book from a student as well as the formal assignment sheet.
